J Line Hebrew uses the NETA Hebrew curriculum of Hebrew College, a modern Hebrew curriculum designed specifically for teens. Additionally, we are excited this year to be offering a new opportunity – all J Line Hebrew students will be eligible to apply for our very first J Line ISRAEL ADVENTURE, in collaboration with Classrooms Without Borders, being offered in Summer 2021.
On Wednesday evening, special programs will be planned and led by the Pittsburgh shinshinim. On Sunday mornings, students will learn with their levels. Whether you’re just starting out or close to fluency, J Line Hebrew will help you take your Hebrew skills to the next level! We blend classroom-based, online, and one-on-one learning with cultural experiences in an environment that is both rigorous and welcoming. Time for hand-washing will be built into the schedule, and hand sanitizing stations will be available throughout the building.Ěll participants and staff will be screened upon arrival at the JCC.For any in-person experiences, we will be observing the following health and safety procedures: We will be starting the year with a blend of in-person and virtual experiences. While we prepare for the fall, we are also conscious that we will still be dealing with the impact of coronavirus. And of course, we are delighted to be continuing our Hebrew program with our wonderful teachers and the new Pittsburgh shinshinim. Just like in past years, we have something for everyone, from learning about Jewish cuisine in Food and Cooking to exploring the power of advocacy and activism in Taking Action on Social Change. With no overlap in time or dates, you can participate in as many experiences as you want! We made these changes based on community feedback, and to give all J Line students the opportunity to engage more deeply in learning, leadership development, and becoming agents for change. This year, rather than three trimesters of Sunday mornings, J Line opportunities will take place at different points throughout the year, with more of a focus on cohort-based learning.
